NO FCRA USE. Marion County Criminal History is privately owned and has no connection to a local, Alabama, or federal government body. Neither this site nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant screening, or another purpose governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The site is not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.
1. What This Website Is
Marion County Criminal History is an independent reference resource. It is not part of the Marion County government, Alabama Unified Judicial System, Marion County Sheriff's Office, or Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. It does not keep official criminal records, retrieve files, conduct official checks, or submit documents for a user.
The content routes readers to the public offices that hold distinct records. Those include the Circuit Clerk for court files, the sheriff for its jail and incident material, ALEA's Criminal Records and Identification Unit for fingerprint-matched personal history, and the Alabama Sex Offender Registry for public registry information. Links to outside tools may also support research, subject to their own terms.
2. Rules for Using This Site
Use of Marion County Criminal History must remain lawful and must not interfere with the site or other visitors. A user agrees not to:
- Violate a federal, Alabama, or local law through use of the site
- Stalk, harass, intimidate, injure, or threaten another person
- Use site information for any FCRA-regulated decision
- Attempt to enter accounts, systems, or data without authorization
- Send bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools against the pages
- Disrupt performance or prevent another visitor from accessing the service
3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination
Information reached from this site may not be used to stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, injure, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. Alabama applies a specific safeguard to registry data. Ala. Code § 15-20A-8 prohibits using Alabama Sex Offender Registry information to injure, harass, or commit a criminal act against a registrant or another person. Public registry access supports awareness and safety planning. It is not permission for vigilantism or retaliation.
4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency
Marion County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It does not prepare a credit report, background check, or consumer report. The site and linked advertising tools must not be used to evaluate a person for:
- Hiring, termination, or another employment action
- Housing or a rental application
- Creditworthiness or insurance pricing
- A license, permit, or government benefit
- Any other decision regulated by the FCRA
A legally authorized check for a regulated purpose must use an appropriate official or FCRA-compliant provider. ALEA's public self-review process is designed for an individual to review their own Alabama criminal history, while its Alabama Background Check System is restricted to qualifying organizations.
5. No Legal Advice
The site supplies general record-access information, not legal advice. A description of Marion County court files, Alabama expungement under Ala. Code §§ 15-27-1 through 15-27-21, a warrant, or a registry rule does not determine how the law applies to one case. A licensed Alabama attorney should answer that question.
6. No Warranties
All content and services are provided "as is." No promise is made that:
- Every fact is accurate, complete, or current
- The site will remain available without interruption
- Its pages contain no bug, mistake, or security flaw
- An outside search result is complete or correctly matched
Records change when agencies add dispositions, courts amend orders, or Alabama law restricts public access. A qualifying expungement can remove information from ordinary public view, and juvenile or Youthful Offender rules can limit release. Only the office that holds the original record can confirm its current status.
7. Third-Party Services and Links
Links may lead to Marion County offices, Alabama court and agency portals, legal resources, or outside search providers. Leaving this site subjects the user to the destination's own rules. Marion County Criminal History does not control an external site's content, availability, data practices, pricing, or search results and accepts no responsibility for them.
8. Intellectual Property
Unless another owner is identified, the site's text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Marion County Criminal History or its content partners. Copying, distributing, adapting, or building upon that material requires prior written permission.
9. Limits on Our Liability
To the fullest extent Alabama law permits, Marion County Criminal History is not responsible for loss or damage arising from use of the site, reliance on its content, or use of an outside service reached through a link.
10. Indemnification
A user agrees to defend and hold the site harmless against a claim, demand, proceeding, expense, or legal fee caused by that user's conduct, misuse of the site, or breach of these terms.
11. Governing Law
Alabama law governs these terms. A dispute arising from use of Marion County Criminal History must be brought in a court with proper jurisdiction in Alabama.
12. Changes to These Terms
These terms may be revised from time to time. A revision takes effect when the updated language is posted on this page.
13. Cutting Off Access
Access may be limited, suspended, or blocked at any time, without advance notice, including when use violates these terms or threatens the service.
14. Severability
If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected term will be narrowed only as far as needed to make it enforceable.
15. Questions
Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
